Seniors enteringSeniors' Date With Destiny

Wearing their beautiful outfits in white, the '09 class has finally been recognized as seniors. On September 26, 2008, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the seniors walked down the aisles to the music of the band as everyone watched with awe at how far these girls have come from being freshmen to reaching their inaugural.

After the opening, the guest speaker, Meshelle Shield, known as Momma of Indie Comedy, gave several memorable aphorisms on the importance of sticking to school. One of her main pieces of advice was, "He's not that cute; go to school." She also talked about the significance of being a Western student and a big sister to others. She said that college should be the student's goal. Her speech's theme was that "everyone has a date with destiny."

The event carried on with an amazing dance starring Courtney Watson, Ariel Short, Nyasia Burris and Britney Miles. Yet what made the audience fall into a mood of awe was the class song, the theme song from "Take a Bow" by Rihanna.

"Finally they changed the theme song," junior Nicole Coppola said.

It was a memorable song as the seniors sang about "This chapter closing, and to college we are going."

"That was a fantastic and well-put event," English teacher Ms. Rocca commented. "I can't wait to see next year's," she half-joked with the juniors.
