- Make-up Placment testing for incoming Freshmen (members of the Class of 2014) will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. (please be prompt). Algebra, English, and Spanish tests last approximately 45 minutes each.
- The Western High School Alumnae Dance Team will presents "Reflections II" on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 3:00 p.m.

- The Western community mourns the loss of Athletic Director David Lang on May 30, 2010.
- The PTA is hosting a Step Show on Saturday, May 22, 2010, 6:00–9:00 p.m.
- Social Studies teacher David Hildebrand received a Teaching American History fellowship for the second year, and will be researching the market dynamics of the Port of Baltimore and the Maryland hinterland from the Colonial period through World War II in late June. His work on the emancipation of the Ridgely slaves during last year's TAH seminar was published on the National Parks website.
- The Robodoves, Western's robotics team, competed at the FIRST robotics competition at the Baltimore Convention Center March 11-13. A WJZ story and video both feature the Western team.
- Sarah Blonder '12, Katie Jones '11, and Kelly Munroe '11 earned medals in the Maryland Olympiada of Spoken Russian at Goucher College on March 5.
- The Robodoves, Western's robotics team, won the Innovate Award during last weekend's Black Engineer of the Year Award robotics tournament.
- Shelby Simmons '10, Ashley Sommers '12, and Ashley Tunstall '10 were finalists in this year's "Champions of Courage" Black History Month Essay Competition, each earning a $100.00 Savings Bond. Shelby Simmons was the grand prize winner. In addition to the $100.00 bond, Shelby won a $500.00 Savings Bond and two tickets to see "The Color Purple." Ashley Tunstall was last year’s grand prize winner.
- Erin Greene '10 sang the National Anthem at Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake’s State of the City Address Monday, February 22, 2010 at City Hall.
- Seven Western students earned medals in the 2009 National Russian Essay Contest.
- Cameal Butler '10 won first place and Rae’Shawn Hicks '11 second place at the Baltimore City-wide level of the Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest.

- The WHS PTA is having a Rummage Sale this Saturday, Oct 31, 2009 in the WHS Parking Lot (4600 Falls Road). Proceeds will go to the WHS PTA Scholarship fund and Teachers' Wish list. Call Maria Salvato (410-493-8912) if you want to reserve a space or a table.
