- Congratulations to Cornetta Mayo ('05), Theresa Lewis ('06), Karen McAlister ('06), and Emily Coe ('06) for their winning essays in the Champions of Courage contest.
- The Sun honors Western's Indoor Track and Field Team.
- On February 5 Western celebrated Unity Day with a full-school assembly. Numerous alumnae attended, with classes from 1935 to 2003 represented, and many spoke to classes in the afternoon as well as toured the building and pored over albums and artifacts in the Archives Room.
- Congratulations to the twenty-eight new members of Western's National Honor Society chapter, who were inducted at a ceremony on February 13.
- Mr. David Bonn, Assistant Principal since 1999, retired at the end of January after 36 years of service to Baltimore City Public Schools. Western will miss his expertise and humor, and we wish him the best.
- Western bids fond farewell to Mrs. Edith Marshall, beloved custodian since 1980. Mrs. Marshall, who served previously as Poly custodian and was on duty at our complex since it was built, took care of our school — building, staff, and students — with kindness and dedication that generations of Westernites appreciated and admired. We will miss her, and wish her a long, happy, and relaxed retirement.
- Senior Teeah Kerns received the Comptroller of Maryland's Ribbon of Excellence in Art for a piece on display at the Treasury Building in Annapolis. Teeah's work will be displayed for six months.
- Western's choral group "Sounds Unlimited" performed in the Holiday Sing at the Morris Mechanic Theater on Saturday, December 13.
- The Physical Education Department was recently awarded a grant from the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation.
- New video teleconferencing facility brings the University of Maryland to Western's Health classes.
- Western observed Junior Day for the Class of 2005 on November 21.
- College students teach "Healthy Choices" to Western students.
- Western observed Senior Inaugural for the Class of 2004 on September 25.
